Visiting Sicily was an eye opener, Classical Greek history classes miss half the picture when ignoring “magna grecia”, Syracuse and Selinunte. Gorgeous place, too.

Indeed there were! And there were many alternatives to the political systems that Athens and Sparta had as well. If that's something you're interested in, here's a book on it:https://www.cambridge.org/ca/academic/subjects/classical-studies/ancient-history/democracy-beyond-athens-popular-government-greek-classical-age?format=PB …

Is this pre-Pelopennesian War? I just started a deep dive into Greece (spurred by how much I enjoyed Assassin's Creed: Odyssey) of all things, and I've been fascinated by how much I had no idea about despite the fact that Ancient Greece was a major theme in childhood schooling.

Same (minus getting into it via Assassin’s Creed). It’s so much more interesting than I had come to believe. Or maybe I’m just maturing into someone who can appreciate history
