@KevinSimler Found myself perusing your science as spirituality stuff. A small thought: Religion has absurd beliefs to create commitment and boundaries. But so does science—it's just that those beliefs are always moving.

So I don't think you're missing that many elements in trying to cultivate a religion around science. My initial inclination is to think that what's missing is the personal/persona aspects. Relating to abstract things in personal terms plays powerfully into our deepest emotions.

Yeah there are still a lot of the emotional/narrative elements around religion that I don't really understand. Do you have a good sense why nothing has arisen in this niche (yet)?

I think you're on the right track with the spiritual experiences thing. American Deism and other similar projects failed, I think, because they were efforts to de-personalize the world.

Not only was it emotionally unsatisfying, it didn't actually correlate with people's lived experiences.
