Tbh, the main thing I can think of is the urge to signal some light tribal affiliation (and that feeling seems to be stronger when it is niche scifi related)

I don’t have a real good answer here, tbh. Closest is probably Kurt Cobain, and I didn’t really get into his music until after his death.

I didn’t know him at all before he died, but watched some clips and read a couple things recently... he seemed like such a beautiful soul.
