The essence of systems thinking: Every persistent biological or cultural structure exists because of a positive feedback loop. Sometimes it’s hard to see. But to understand the structure, you must understand the loop.

Can you explain?
A company is a loop of profits invested in growth leading to more profits. A news outlet is (or used to be) a loop of readership —> money —> good reporting —> trust —> more readership. A species is a loop harnessing energy within an ecosystem. Etc etc. Does that make sense?

Agreed, but note that *human* stocks (like business) are most of the few to lack (or ignore) neg. loops that may stabilize them. "Endless" accumulation is not possible, but the attempt and subseq. overshoot-and-collapse is, apart from cancer cells and few spec. situations, human
