I’m also a bit baffled. Best guess: books are a very intimate experience for some people, and they don’t want Big Tech ruining it. Imagine if FB tried to make books “more social”... I find that ugh-y. But I also desperately want what Patrick wants... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
