So as the government loses control of the economy, it passes a law banning most forms of protest; meanwhile the BBC cancels its main satirical TV show and GammonBall News is almost upon us. Anyone else starting to wonder what sort of “election” we’re getting in 2024?

Honestly, I'm wondering how long it'll be before they start going after political satire on R4, like the Now Show.

Presumably the people behind the Now Show have been wondering the same thing for a long time... That may explain why it's overwhelmingly limp when it comes to satirising the Tories, and why it spent so very much energy attacking the left when Corbyn was Leader of the Opposition.

The Now Show is compromised; self-censored during election & jumped on the anti-corbyn bandwagon; that's not satire, its sycophancy

Being anti-Corbyn wasn’t ever a bandwagon. It was a recognition of sanity.
