The fake outrage is ridiculous here. The man didn’t need to drive to the beach to buy ice cream and could have resolved the issue in seconds by telling the police his name

Disagree. Being an idiot is one thing, being strip searched for it quite another. I doubt police believed even 4 a minute that he was anything other than a nuisance. It can be a humiliation tactic - US police used it against pipeline protesters. It should never be normalised.

My point is it was totally self inflicted. He choose to be a d*ck head. No need to drive 22 miles for an ice cream breaking Welsh Govt covid regulations and if he had to do it just tell them his name so he can be fined. Why do what he did?

Happy to agree he's an idiot but he's not alone. Unless someone is dangerous or thought to be dangerous, rather than simply irritating for the police to deal with, strip searching shouldnt be used cos it ferls punitive and its dehumanising. Stick him a cell til he talks.

They can’t do the latter under custody laws. North Wales is the only part of Wales with infection rates on the up. This is about public health not petty bureaucracy

Sure they can, a cursory glance of history proves state agencies can do what they want mostly to the powerless. Dont get me wrong, police have a tough job but we must always be cautious about what becomes normal cos there's always a reason, eg terror, protest tho I get u disagree

I get what becomes normal, and will fight it, but this isn’t normal. Take care comrade
