It is surely more useful to look at countries that have handled Covid-19 much better than the UK, and see what we can learn from them, than at those that have done slightly better or (in the case of Belgium) slightly worse.

We should. Finding relevant comparators isn’t easy in terms of those who’ve done extremely well. SE Asia has done so well but are far more compliant societies. Probably island nations like NZ & Australia most relevant - both locked down hard early. We waited 12 months to isolate
