Were these restrictions not meant to be coming in Friday? You mean to tell me you have now extended the delay in requiring a negative test by another 3 days? Another 3 days of entirely open borders with zero testing of arrivals. Its like you actually want more covid cases. MAD

I’d hardly call 10 days quarantine open borders, also with the UK being the 3rd most infected place in the world, most people returning to the UK are safer

We dont have 10 day quarantine. We have pathetic self isolation rules. Someone can land at Heathrow then get on a bus or train spreading the plague, then once they get to their self isolation location we just have to hope they comply coz theres zero checks.

We actually do have 10 day quarantine, which you can shorten to five with a test. But agree with you on the enforcement

We do not have quarantine. Im sorry, but what we have cannot be called quarantine. If you can get on a damn bus and train after landing at Heathrow, potentially infecting many. that isnt quarantine. Its weak self isolation Quarantine is stopping any contact the moment of arrival

Easier to just halt the arrival, Ban all travel to the UK for non UK citizens and Quarantine the rest who have a legitimate reason to travel...

But what’s the point of that, the virus is here, it’s endemic, more than a million currently have it. Those coming from virtually every country in the world pose less of a risk than those already in the UK.

Because we are in a Lockdown, and New Variants Bose a significant risk to "Our" Vaccine not being able to control it! All travel should have been halted last January, but it wasn't. Your right, its here but as we "Try" to control it, you don't want uncontrolled Borders... Do you?

No, controlled borders will be the norm in the short term whilst vaccination becomes widespread, but the control must be reasonable, an agreed international standard on rapid testing, in order to dispense with pointless quarantine would be a start.

We'll have to agree to disagree...! Controlling the borders is paramount in an effort to control the Pandemic. All measures including Banning international Travel should be on the table. Most should already have been implemented but we live in a Tory Dither State

Im with you Pete - people with vested interests in the aviation industry aren’t always the most objective

I don't think anyone wants an argument here, controlling the borders is important. It always has been as its common sense, but as someone once told, one persons common sense is not the same as someone else. Just because the virus is here, doesn't mean let role with it Herd Imun ?
