You mean not great degrees like those held by unionised doctors, nurses, teachers, social workers, lawyers, civil engineers, accountants and building surveyors

Accountants don’t need degrees they have their own qualification system. Some degrees are useless bits of paper and don’t enhance workplace skills. Too many don’t have any common sense

Most / all professional accountancy degrees are dual accredited to give accelerated entry to the professional bodies own structures

Do you mean like degree apprenticeships so they learn what the employer and university have agreed therefore useful

No it pre-dates that - the professional bodies have for decades jointly designed the degrees with the universities to meet the criteria of the university and the professional body/sector. These operate across degrees in almost all professions - accountancy, medicine, nursing, etc

And they are what I class as useful degrees, which not only do I agree with but am encouraging my son to go down that route, rather than a degree in origami and a debt of thousands.

Degree choice is key - but often many young people don’t know what they want and a more generic degree can help them find their way in life and then specialise at Masters Level. I wish him good luck
