He's heading off the weak on national security argument that the RW press love to label Labour with....a blocking move.

Agree, facts won't get in the way when it comes to damaging Starmer and LP.

This is where their strategy is flawed - it’s not like a business abc markets. You have a Tory dominated / influenced media who will always put Labour down. The only reason Blair broke through 1997 was because Murdoch hated John Major more than he hated Labour

We have a quasi-democracy where GE outcomes are determined by RW billionaire media owners rather than the policies that benefit the public and country. Though social media is changing that game. What if Starmers strategy is a grand bargain, repeating Blairs moves?

But Blair had very clever strategists in Mandelson & Campbell (as much as I dislike them) and very bright Parliamentarians like Robin Cook. This bunch are like a pop tribute act - they look a bit like the originals and sometimes say the right words but lack any authenticity

Fortunately they're not up against much. Biden will be nervous about Russian influence in UK govt and suspect he may also reorient Murdoch to supporting a centrist Starmer led govt. The pendulum should swing back to the centre if the stars align. Though the Union is finished.

The flaw it that argument is I suspect Murdoch has more influence then Biden - he’s been a constant evil whilst political leaders come and go. Won’t change till he pops his clogs

Think you are right, he bears a big responsibility for the historical and current mess. It's all power and money with these people.

Murdoch ruined our press first, then our politics and then our country - as he has done in Australia and the USA. It’s why he hates the EU - they don’t tolerate him
