The key Gary is to understand what bullying is. Shouting and Swearing do not automatically mean bullying is taking place! So many people use the word bullying without understanding its meaning!

I’m surprised a retired Assistant Headteacher would say that wasn’t bulllying. How many times were you sworn and shouted at by the Headteacher in your school without it being bullying?

Some people shout and swear and some don’t. If somebody shouted and swore at me and I didn’t like it then I would tell them! If that behaviour continued constantly then that would be bullying. The trouble is many just don’t use bullying in the correct context. That’s my point!

But it was a pattern of behaviour - not a one-off. But back to my question would that have been acceptable in your school? It wouldn’t have been in my last university work place. Someone would have been on a disciplinary immediately

Totally agree Kevin...if it was a pattern. I’m just not convinced and feel some of these civil servants are weak and need taking to task. Bullying term often used inaccurately. However, if true and bullying in place then yes not acceptable...
