Some children go hungry whether this due to lack of money, neglect or both that is debatable - no child is starving in this country. I just wonder how far the State should extend itself into basic family responsibilities like feeding your children.

Yes and prove free healthcare comprehensive welfare, housing benefits, council tax relief and it should insist that it’s responsibility of parents to feed their own children.

We need to be sensitive to those families who are genuinely in a cute need and react accordingly. Not all families where children receive FSM will need help during holidays for those that do access to food vouchers could be arranged through schools.
