I agree Peter - the virus is out of control. Whatever out political views we need to make a 17 day sacrifice to save our NHS being swamped. That’s what it’s all about - we will have no intensive care beds and people will die who could otherwise be saved
Worth looking at this guidance about why death certificates are used and the what’s recorded on them - primary cause of death and contributing factors. But if a head injury from a car crash is cause of death, how is covid a contributing factor ? And how does someone dying of cancer with a negative covid test mean covid is a contributing factor ? Makes absolutely no sense at all..

It’s up to the medic to decide case by case. They are not going to jeopardise their career making things up - their years of professional training should allow them to make the assessment if it was an underlying cause of not
