Every single breach of restrictions at a university hall of residence, like the party video circulating from Cov, happens because the government and university VCs wanted it to. They had, and still have, the choice to go online-only this term. They knew it would save lives.

My daughter was informed, today that, if they don't want to attend classes, that's fine - they're all online too. So why could the students not have been told this before they got to uni? My daughter doesn't live-in, but I feel so sorry for those paying rent to sit in a cold room

The uni’s business model relies on them paying that rent. Its all outrageous.

Sadly you are right. I feel so sorry for so many students who are just collateral damage
