Thats not true Kevin. They are verified as they come in by the Councils electoral services. Then counted with other votes at the count. The growth of postal votes shows the importance of targeting postal voters who often vote within days of receiving the ballot paper.

Apparently you're allowed to attend a postal vote counting in your local authority as long as you inform them first.

Always been the case. The votes are verified and then turned over. Experienced observer can get a flavour of which the wind is blowing
