Somewhere close to us achieving continuity of public services provision funded via enhanced tax receipts through a stronger economy. Many small nations have taken decades to achieve a strong economy. Some rely on being international tax havens, whereas i want an ethical Wales

Thats a chicken, egg scenario. Based on extremely suspect economic figures. All Westminster has to do is keep telling us how we’re poor, keep us poor by screwing the economy to suit the south east of England. GERW is based on extremely suspect guesstimates from the Treasury.

I understand that but if you provide me with 100% reliable counter data that we are frighteningly rich in Wsles I won’t believe you

Can’t be done. We can ask why other small nations do very well in Northern Europe but we can’t? Even with suspect figures we do better than many other nations as we now are under the yoke of Westminster! This is revealing?pic.twitter.com/XzepfeglO2

You know per capita GDP is the relevant measure here. Some are outliers who thrive on international tax avoidance (hence my ethical comment). Worth noting the economic trajectory of many of these nations in their first 20-30 years of independence. No spin - just facts needed

Also I’m surprised that many examples quoted are not exactly paragons of virtue in terms of corruption. Looking at the Corruption Perception Index from Transparency International they are not countries I’d want to be part of eg Belarus,Malta, Bulgaria

Seriously? We are an annexed nation of one the most corrupt governments in the west! The graphic was to illustrate the GPD of many independent nations is much smaller than ours & we are nowhere near performing as well as we could be.

Malta sees investigative journalists car bombed, Bulgaria awash with mafia money and Belarus herding up masses of protesters off the steer today. Let’s get some perspective. I’m not defending London as the money laundering capital of the world, but I want something better

You’re attaching to much import to the graphic. It’s meant to show the asininity of ‘too small, too poor. You’re critique of the moral standing of some of the nations is a deflection. Besides as many are honest as are dishonest. Iceland, Estonia, Croatia, Slovenia?

I’d agree three of those examples are great examples

Thanks for that. It’s impossible to guarantee the economic future. But facts like we are self sufficient in energy, water & arguably food, again begs the question why can’t we! England has none of these advantages. It imports all.pic.twitter.com/LF07YtfJzP

Welsh people will also need to think about what we want as a future. Not linked to old GVA models. As you say Wales as a truly sustainable nation with energy, water and food security as part of a better quality life has many attractions. But many people don’t share that view yet
