Starmer reminds me of Hugh Gaitskell, a moderate who led the party from '55 to '63. As Chancellor in '51 he wanted to increase military spending. He did so by charging for specs and false teeth. My Dad didn't need either, but he went daft all the same. My Mum, a Tory, just smiled
