Am I the only one who remembers life before Margaret Thatcher? People cared about each other, we had real communities and full employment. She ruined a caring countryhttps://twitter.com/diydougie/status/1294675331467681792 …

No..before her, the disabled were not actually acknowledged or cared for. They/we were shamed, their/our families shamed. It was only caring if one fit the supposed 'norms' going on then. We are still struggling even though some laws declare we should not be. So much work-access!

That’s a fair observation - but I think that was around the wider development of society’s attitudes to disability rather than individual politicians

Of course. Attitudes to disability were truly appalling then - as was discrimination against many characteristics. I was making the point we had a platform to build off before she smashed communities

Ok. We've all got our own opinions based on what we perceived as we developed. Mine was from a disabled place where shame was & platforms for us were not permitted. Or were able body mind-sets. progress of technology which happened with or without Political leanings, opened doors
