I find it hard to believe a Labour shadow Minister could comment on a humanitarian emergency as if we were talking about ordering paper clipshttps://twitter.com/siennamarla/status/1293225034740305922 …

Perhaps she is sensibly trying to avoid thishttps://foreignpolicy.com/2019/11/27/uk-migration-refugees-brexit-jeremy-corbyn-is-caught-labour-immigration-wars/ …

I would say she is effectively challenging the government’s approach to immigration while avoiding knee jerk name calling which is cathartic but utterly pointless.

Allowing the government to frame the debate as an immigration crisis when it is actually a refugee crisis gives ground to the racists and xenophobes instead of challenging them.

Holly Lynch highlighted our government’s incompetence and lack of planning for yet another forgotten repercussion of BREXIT. Would you prefer she made the refugee crisis as toxic for Labour as the Israel / Palestine conflict?

The refugee crisis is toxic for the refugees. Should we stand up for the oppressed or merely seek to manage their oppression with slightly more efficiency and humanity than the Tories?

To do anything significant for refugees the Labour Party needs to be in government. Therefore avoiding the toxicity that was so characteristic of Corbyn’s leadership is essential. Or Labour will be forever in opposition.

The toxicity lay not in Corbyn’s leadership but in the virulence of his opponents inside the Labour movement.

I admire Corbyn but he gave too much ammunition to the opposition & presided over an increasingly toxic rift in the party with both sides claiming they are the ones in the right. The anonymous leaked report is ensuring this also hounds Starmer. https://twitter.com/tracey_crosbie/status/1292095386052702208?s=21 …https://twitter.com/tracey_crosbie/status/1292095386052702208 …

Tracey Crosbie PhD MSc PgCert BA(Hon) @tracey_crosbieWhat do you think the motivations of the authors are ? Why do you think the report was leaked at the precise moment it was leaked? Why has the someone with access to Forde Inquiry submissions leaked confidential submissions to the Ford inquiry?https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/aug/07/jeremy-corbyn-accuses-labour-officials-of-sabotaging-election-campaign …1 antwoord 0 retweets 0 vind-ik-leuks
It doesn’t hound him. He just needs to deal with it without fear or favour. As an ex-Director of the CPS I thought it would be easy for him

Starmer is a lawyer he is following the law and waiting for the outcome of the FORD inquiry. He can hardly make decisions based on an unsubstantiated anonymous report.
