Can understand people not going to university now, it is becoming the haunt for children of the wealthy, unless you are prepared to handle life long debt, repaying loans to study and pay rent to unscrupulous, unregulated landlords.

I can understand it too. That’s what they want- keep higher education for the wealthy elite and keep the working classes away from knowledge (and power).

Born and brought up on a council estate I was very lucky to have got an apprenticeship at 16 despite leaving school with only 3 CSEs. Then very good employers paid for my part time studies through to Masters level. Sadly I doubt that would happen today. Education changed my life
