All the angrily anti-lockdown people used to be Brexiteers on the far right, but I’m seeing more good friends on the far left joining them and suporting the Telegraph, Allison Pearson and the like. Very strange times indeed

The last few decades of UK politics and society have been heartbreaking in so many ways. From my exile in the Balkans, where we've had our fair share of divisive populism, it seems much of the 'shock' is contrived, driven by data-analysts posing as geniuses & party saviours.

I mean the shock tactics are contrived - not their awful effects. Scratch decades for centuries & the UK for the world but still I think the scale of hate-tactics is new for the UK, where the self-appointed data-genius is obviously DC - his 'genius' being to pander to hatred.

Ironically Kevin, I have just been patronised and attacked for my comment about Left and right meeting at the other side and have had to unfollow as I found their comment unnecessarily unpleasant. Sometimes you just don't know which way to turn on here.

I’m so sorry Susie. I didn’t mean to drag you into this. My personal differences with others should not have impacted on you

These alarming and propaganda-fuelled times have unloosened screws in many previously sane-seeming people's heads. I continue to hope against hope that it's temporary, for all our sakes.
