1000s petitioned the council to have the statue removed. The council ignored the people as they thought there was nothing wrong with having a statue outside the city hall to celebrate and commemorate slavery. Not sure why you're defending the council here.

There must be a paper trail - where can I read the information on the decision finding by the council as well as other documents showing the process?

The council saw nothing wrong with celebrating slavery after being petitioned by the people of Bristol to have the statue removed. You need to ask the council why they think slavery should be celebrated.

Ok, so the petition that was running for 3 years had 100 people signing it. Sounds like someone should have a bit of leg work to get more signatures. Based on that (not the latest figures) the decision by the council kinda is understandable even iff people don’t like it (1/2)
