What would you rather do let bodies pile up in the street in the short term? There is no right answer - it’s purely pragmatism. Any choice to let hundreds of thousands die for the greater good are not acceptable. To do otherwise sounds Nazi like

Sorry but goverments make decisions for the greater good all the time. It's why we prefer democracy over dictatorships. One man may allow thousands to die to protect his daughter. That's human. But that's why we elect governments who should instead act for the greater good.

I really think you are wrong on this Matthew - but you are entitled to your views

And you are entitled to ignore the question I pose. Bit if I can be labelled inhuman for accepting Covid deaths, then the same applies to fans of lockdown who accept the subsequent deaths directly caused by it.

I’m not ignoring it. You are on sticky ground in my view and I can see little or no point of having a discussion we can never agree on.

You don't feel compelled to answer why you can label my position 'Nazi Like', but your own position, which in fact will be the cause of many more deaths than coronavirus (see many many news reports on economic fallout), is not 'Nazi-Like'? Because the difference isn't clear.

It’s pragmatic. We are dealing with an immediate and pressing issue, your model is based on best guessing a future scenario. What if we didn’t lockdown and 250,000 people died - what about the economy then? We can deal with the certainty immediately facing us not what might be

What if 50,000 of those who might have died without lockdown were doctors and nurses - that would have had terrible consequences on current and future patients as well as their own families. Your ‘what if’ approach has too many variables to make decisions on. Pragmatism is key

Both of our approaches are based on pragmatism. Not a Nazi-like indifference to life. You literally begin your tweet with 'what if', yet apparently my own 'what if' approach apparently has too many variables, despite data showing lockdown countries faired no better than others.

Matthew it’s probably wise to leave it there

Personally i think it's always wise to debate; to test, confirm or debunk. But I will respect your desire to stop the conversation.
