No surprise to me. The new members failed to turn up & vote at CLP level. Change to the inherent Blairite party skeleton was never challenged at roots level. Hence the failure to deselect the likes of Phillips & Smeeth. The left only has its own inertia to blame.

We agree then. It will take another 40 years to see a Socialist leader again, if ever.

Within Labour, the opportunity has certainly gone. What many of us had failed to realise was the extent that Blair/Mandelson had managed to infiltrate all the structures of the Party with their people & maintain a steady stream of replacements as necessary. Both genius & tragedy.

Yes, who would have thought they were looking so far ahead as to prevent socialism for the foreseeable future? Genius indeed. Which is what makes me sure I need to desert this corrupted party. But where to? I really don’t know.

It's easy to forget just how thorough was the New Labour Project. Everyone had to be "on message" Corbyn was a rare rebel because he had a safe seat & no ambition for advancement within the Party or indeed Government. As for the future, hopefully a new Dem Soc Party will emerge.

Don’t know I’ve the luxury of time. Corbyn such a breath of fresh air - someone who actually represented what I believed in. A new party is such a long-term enterprise. I’m thinking of the Greens? If not I think I’ll just have to become a full time cynic and to hell with them all

I'm sure there are enough socialist MP's + new now who could start another party practically overnight if they set their minds to it, and I have no doubts whatsoever that they'd have the support + votes to go with. Change UK had no support as were blatantly part of the problem.

There are plenty of “real” socialist parties out there, why will your new one be any more popular?

You're missing the point, the 'plenty' of actual socialists need to get it together.

That will take coherent socialist vision, leadership and organising capacity. I can’t see any of those. I really wish I could
