In the meantime in Sweden life continues as normal, BBQs, restaurants open, hairdressers crowded, travel agency selling holidays. They never followed the wrong WHO advice, they didn't destroy their economy.https://www.forbes.com/sites/gabrielleigh/2020/04/27/the-predicted-coronavirus-catastrophe-hasnt-arrived-in-sweden-whats-next/#3f114e083caf …

They have been saying this for a whole month, now the team apocalypse has just given up on Sweden, it's ignored in the news as it doesn't fit the narrative.

Kevin, what you're failing to appreciate is that lockdown kills people. Disruption to cancer services, suicide, domestic violence, medical neglect and isolation, sickness from physical inertia. Plus long term psychiatric injury. Sweden wins, hands down.

Of course I’m not - there are consequences to all actions. UK Government’s failure to prepare on testing & tracing, PPE and delays means we could have avoided the excesses of our lock down. And wider NHS / public health / police cuts obviously have reduced ability to respond

We can talk about the 1.5 million people unable to access food in the UK if you prefer. Or the doubling of domestic violence murders since lockdown began. Or the hundreds of thousands who will die from cancer services disruption. Or the suicides. Or the elderly who will die

Sweden is a utopia. One of the last places in the world that respects the human spirit. If you represent modern labour no wonder you've been out of government for so long.
