Needing family consent to include a death in official statistics is absolute bollocks.

Information Commissioner's Office paper covers this matter. Cause of death recorded on death certificate - public document. Maybe delay due to problems in the comms route? PathLab, Admin & others vital. But NHS mgt vilified for years with doctors & nurses only praised.

Covid-19 is a notifiable disease, too, that
@BBCNewsnight should report such utter balls as they did is concerning..1 antwoord 5 retweets 13 vind-ik-leuks -

Looking at guidance, death by Covid-19 is notifiable by registered medical practitioner. But not on the list for laboratory notification. Not sure if has significance. Was approach to communicating and reporting numbers of people dying considered in plan to address pandemic?

Death analysis for Covid-19 can be later when govt held to account. Use reports deaths to reinforce don't meet & greet outside family group. Consider availability, type of tests, number deployed & % of target group covered. International comparison test approach is important

I don't think the data currently issued by ONS is complete enough or with sufficient granularity for what I and others would wish to have analysed. In addition to mortality data by ICD code there's also morbidity data that needs reviewing for hospital, primary & community care.

Incompetence and panicking? Initial priorities are to stop main NHS hospitals being overwhelmed, to get PPE to front line staff, to keep the public battened down & keep the confidence of the public. Maybe winning only on battening down public because public are ahead of govt?

I have more faith in @ONS than govt departments. They have lots of reviews underway to get more meaningful data - but these should have been in place already
