I applaud a lot of the charity fundraising around #COVID19 at the moment, but as Henning Wehn said “We don’t do charity in Germany we pay taxes”. Charity is just a failure of governments’ responsibilities. Hard to argue

Thank you. I work in a supermarket, and used to be an NHS clerical worker. Voted Labour for 30-odd years & never resented paying tax on my meagre earnings. The NHS isn't funded by charitable donations at all, it is forbidden, even by the Tories!

The points being made are why should you need charity. What parts of the NHS should need to be funded by charity? I can’t think of one -so please tell me what this money is being raised for that shouldn’t be taxpayer funded? PPE and staff wellbeing have both been stated aims
