We were ill prepared we all thought it was a bad dream it would go away Our island status should have protected us more alas We never did enough checks we were asleep to how fast it spread It could be as soon a September before a vaccine is found & a year later before vaccination

I really hope there is a vaccine in September 2020 - but doubt it - and it will take 3 months to vaccinate UK wide after that

All countries haven’t finished reporting cases, sadly, we were second yesterday in the world, but that’s to be expected now testing is being ramped uppic.twitter.com/DvlhrBROk3

Testing ramped up? Are you serious? Our testing rate per million population is 55th in the world behind almost every European and developed country. Out testing volumes are a joke

Since countries have very different testing regimes surely deaths/capita is a more meaningful number? From that perspective, the UK is half that of Spain, Italy & Belgium - still not great but more useful maybe?
-
Testing and deaths are different aspects of any reports. Are deaths at home & nursing homes included in the daily figures? There is no testing in the UK unless a patient is admitted to hospital. Correct me if I am wrong.

And that's why we're not testing otherwise the figures would be even worse.

Spoken to family and friends in Italy who will be in lock down till 3 May. Masks will have to be used when going out then. They accept the lock down, disinfection of public places is being carried out and there are protocols for shopping. I dread going out or shopping here!
