Germany has 5813 COVID cases and had 13 deaths. The UK has 1391 cases and 35 deaths? Norway has 1356 cases and only 3 deaths. What are we doing so wrong? #covidー19uk

We're not doing anything "wrong" Germany just has more prolific testing, so they are picking up and registering the milder cases as well. Pretty straightforward to work that out, I would think.

It's not simple, but it is the main and most obvious reason, as far as I can see. The fatality and case rates vary a lot by region, depending on availablilty of testing...most extremes examples being heavy testing in S Korea, hardly any in the US.

Another issue around fatalities is the high availability of experienced ITU teams and equipment. There are so many variables at play. But back to my first point, what we’ve done wrong is 10 years of unnecessary austerity denuding our NHS and public services of capacity
