Problem is that it assumes criminal justice system perfect ie only the guilty (murderer) are convicted but we know that is far from the reality. Cannot reveal details if innocent.

Good point - but while serving a life term surely the court of appeal would have intervened over a miscarriage of justice. Not sure how many modern murder cases have seen an innocent person serving the full life term

My confidence in austerity driven criminal justice system is low. Johnson has further politicised and exacerbated matters by focusing on increasing sentence for most serious offenders. Other western jurisdictions do comparatively better, thou they aren't perfect.
