I like Ian and his values but he has baggage that the media will use to crucify him

Who doesn’t lets face it...especially with our msm. He is strong enough to withstand it

A lot of them don't and at least not on the level Lavery has. If you want someone who speaks well but will ultimately be crucified for his part in a union funds scandal, then he is your choice.

I was told he had been exonerated but never seen any definitive evidence. Would be happy to read if anyone has a link. It's already been around for the last few years. My Jewish friends also consider him as AS, due to his Palestinian support - unsure what else they have

I think exonerated is overstating it, but the there was no evidence of wrongdoing I understand. I like Ian but let’s be realistic. What did JC ever do wrong?

That's where I started before Christmas. His broad accent will be a target too. I'm a Geordie btw but occasionally struggle with his pronunciation. I like Ian but also Andy MacDonald who is more media savvy & also loyal

Andy’s a good guy as well. I’d love to see a female leader this time though. It’s embarrassing that a socialist party can’t find one

I really don't set any great store about that. The female party leaders have done nothing to advance women's rights. I would rather we concentrate on policy & character. Whoever, is elected will be blasted with smears & criticism. I had hope for Pidcock but don't see any other

We have all women shortlists in the party to recognise the historical disadvantage imposed on women. How can the Tories have had two female PMs and we can’t manage one female leader. I wish we had a current day Barbara Castle or Jennie Lee ready to take the fight to the Tories

Indeed I was a massive fan of the wonderful Mo Mowlam. Such a loss
