Labour’s worst general election performance of the post-war years was in 1983, with 27.6% of the vote. In 2019 Labour had 32.2% of the vote. You’d never guess this based on TV coverage of the worst result since 1935. I’m sure sure there’s no media conspiracy ....

Unfortunately, it’s the number of seats that count in our system of parliamentary democracy. One of the reasons why so many people are calling for electoral reform.

Fair point Dawn. I was just calling out the false media narrative. None of us are happy about the performance but it’s time for considered analysis and not the media trying to push for quick decisions. They can wait

The media were an absolute disgrace without any doubt, but they have never been our friends. It was worse this time than I can ever remember though.
