Go to the US cemetery at Omaha beach . It's quite a moving experience to see the ages of the young men from the USA who died for freedom . Many of them buried not under a cross but the Star of David .

Kurds problems go right back to end of First World War Peace Settlement which created artificial states and is now unravelling. Classic was the creation of Iraq from 3 Ottoman provinces with no connection with each other . Turkey survived because they had Mustapha Kemal.

Syrian Rufugee Crisis even made worse by events at beginning of 20 th century . Dodecanese Islands were controlled by Italy after Italo Turkish war . As a result didn't become part of Turkey when Turks drove out the Greeks in early 20s but became Greek in 1945
