Let’s be honest Kev, the Police, although acting with an amount of discretion, ultimately are obliged to fulfil their role. The role being the maintenance of law and order; and there issues arise? When and how valid does that protest have to be to justify discretion?

I think the issue is they have discretion in how they prioritise police action - obviously Priti Patel has told Crrssida Dick to make it a top priority. Other policing functions go by the way side at the expense of this

I’m not disagreeing with you. Ultimately we’re talking about Policing by Consent. Unusually, we have Government not Governing by majority or consent. We’re witnessing the consequences. We the public, and indeed the police are it’s victims. The situation cannot continue.
