Further to this thread, I’ve also been contacted by AMs angry at the ‘calculated insult’ to Mark Drakeford at conference. He’s been given a speaking slot at 9.50am on Sunday. ‘The graveyard or Tom Watson slot’ as it was put to me.https://twitter.com/adrianmasters84/status/1174068762926075904 …

As an experienced political commentator have you seen any research to suggest which hour of the day gives a speech the best chance of making an impact on its intended audience?.

Nevermind the lobbyists. I understand the world transformed fringe is full on party time.

Thats a fringe enjoying themselves. Hardly key players in conference business - and if they are then they prioritise getting up at a reasonable hour. 9:50 is not early if you are committed socialist - the New Labour days are long gone

Yeah, but the bulk of the audience are general stand up and clap seat fillers. Yes, everyone can wave their hand (or inflatable animal
) in the air to get invited up to speak, but it's not like they're crucial to business.1 antwoord 0 retweets 1 vind-ik-leuk -
Fair point

To be clear, I don't mean this to demean Conference attendees. Conference is sovereign, when I attended I was there to represent & report back to my CLP, which is important. But equally I knew importance of optics of being seen to clap whatever drivel was coming from the stage.
