It’s plan B in case ‘local mechanisms’ (trigger ballots) are blocked because of an early general election. Why should the NEC tolerate another 5-years of disloyal wreckers like Hodge, Streeting, Mann, Coyle, Watson and the rest in the PLP?https://twitter.com/KevinPascoe/status/1169963594320158722 …

A week? For individual Party Branches to decide on a full selection contest Then to seek and agree nominations Then to go through a selection process Then to deal with any complaints about the process Then the inevitable legal action from MPs who are deselected All in a week?

There's a limit to what party activists can stand! I see this as a one off which would have been handled differently in normal circumstances. Feel a bit uneasy about how it might appear rather than how it is. Have they actually decided to do it?

Nothing specific decided yet Christina, but as it stands already NEC have to formally endorse (or otherwise) all Labour Parliamentary candidates selected.

The problem with that Kevin, is that the NEC holds decisions of procedures still.....the mechanisms and rules would have to have a sea change for that to be undone quickly.....

I’m still very uncomfortable with it

I understand your concerns Kevin, but we worked consciously to elect an NEC from the left of the Party and on the side of the membership In the current circumstances we should support them using their powers to protect the Party from the worst elements of the current PLP.
