I`m sure the big corporation had some deal with them with EU agreement. I`m talking about hundreds of thousands of little boats that go into the sea and back daily and make a living from it

Could that have something to do with the small independent fishermen selling their portion of the catch quota to the rich? You know, like in the article Kevin linked earlier. Of course they aren't going to be able to go and catch fish, if they have sold their share of the quota.

I can`t say if they sold or not. I live on the South Coast and see them fishing daily, if the sold their quota, would they still be able to fish I don`t know, don`t know the rules.

Something else mentioned in that article is the leasing out of catch quotas. If your fishermen have sold their quotas, then had to lease them back from the people they sold them to, that would also explain why they aren't making as much as they should be.

But then.....they can`t complain can they.

Just because something is their own fault, doesn't mean they no longer complain about it. They shouldn't complain about it, if this is the case, but they will. It's what people do. I'll be honest, and say I don't know if this is the full story.

The only other bit I do know for fact is that the EU set the total catch allocations, or whatever you want to call it, using scientific data designed to help keep the fish populations sustainable.

So that`s why you see tiny, well undersized cod fish in Spain and France for sale. Did you spot that Barry? I am amazed that nobody checks that and take suitable steps. It`s Spaniards and French (don`t know about others) keep the population of fish down.

So, our fishermen are blaming the EU for French and Spanish fishermen breaking their own laws, and for our Government issuing/selling UK fishing quotas to big companies that probably donate to the Tories. Is that right?

Oh no, these are not just their own laws. If the world wants to restock fish it`s our business. I think Spanish and French break international fishing law. They are selling these under sized fish everywhere shamelessly.

I don’t know about that. But it’s wrong if they do. The seas and oceans don’t belong to any nation in reality

But every country with the coast has their own water zone

Right, and we used to fish in Iceland's water zone. Then we got the UN laws on fishing rights which prevented that. How is that the EU's fault?
