The fixed term parliament act that Clegg/ Cameron introduced in 2011. It would take two thirds of all MPs to agree to call a General Election earlier than 2022. The Lib Dem’s wanted it as part of the coalition deal and it replaced legislation that had worked well since 1716

But surely an opposition always want a general election . Perhaps Labour feel that they have not got the countrybbehind them . So they want to prevent us leaving and are preventing a general election.
