You are on the call Pete. What’s wrong?

My guess is Larch disease problems, but may have just changed route to present new challenge. The start uphill up Pikes Peak will certainly be a challenge. Used in British Championship the year Elfyn won, but unlikely to be official speccy point.

Thanks Peter. So that’s a horticultural and motorsport update in one go

Having now studied the GB route, I can honestly say that there is not one official spectator point that fills be with excitement. I have been to every stage over the years, apart from Slate Mountain. Limited access to viewing areas in stages, all crammed together. Very poor.

When you compare the choice to places to all the other rallies, Spain, Finland, Germany and many more, the choice for spectators is a disgrace. One viewing point only on many of the stages not good enough, especially considering the high entry charges. Poor show.

I agree Pete - I’ve only been to Turkey, Portugal and Spain but the spectators are much better taken care of. You actually feel valued rather than a nuisance to be contained. I think there’s a need for a culture shit amongst the GB organisers

They believe that stages like Orme, Oulton Park and Slate Moutain are sufficient to appease the masses ,and the heart of the rally, the forest stages, are left with poor limited viewing. I understand that it's difficult, but needs to be addressed.

It’s complacency from a spectators point of view - it’s not just the stages, it’s parking and rip off prices for what you get. Look at the shuttle buses provided to get you into stages abroad and lots of good viewing areas. They should visit more WRC events as ordinary spectators

A lot more could be done for serious rally fans - their current focus is all about the general public. Other events seem to cater for them in city stages but also the serious fans elsewhere. In Turkey I went by coach for an hour and was taken right into the stage - almost no cars
