Please see beyond the knockabout - try to reach out to Leavers. I say the same to their ultras. I voted Remain and have wrestled with my beliefs since that day - I want to both respect the democratic decision (however flawed) and minimise the self harm. We need a middle way

I understand your reasoning -but I can’t respect a fraudulent decision - that’s not democracy - had the referendum been mandatory it would have been declared null and void

No need to apologise. It took me over 2 yrs to get to this compromise view. I was very angry about the referendum decision. I’m still angry about scumbag manipulators like Banks, Farage & Cummins. The only way to bring us together (if the 80% compromise) is the softest Brexit

Thank you
- I simply can’t get there tho I simply can’t - Brexit is wrong - it’s tainted - it’s harmful - it has and will continue to hurt so many - it’s morally corrupt we have to fight it.1 antwoord 0 retweets 1 vind-ik-leuk -

I get your position. I want the softest Brexit to allow people to take another vote after say five years - based on knowledge - either to rejoin the EU, maintain the then status quo or distance ourself further. The softest break will allow all that - it’s not the end of the world

It may be wrong but 17 million leave voters have to be considered whatever we may think of them. Summarily overriding them will generate even more division.

I think that’s the point I was making

I just don’t follow that argument, whilst I can respect someone who disagrees with me based on logic and sound argument - I simply cannot respect people who would watch others suffer , who are happy to risk going back to times of rationing, shortages and rises in racism

In the softest possible Brexit none of those things will happen. We would still be in the SM and a CU - no change but we will have respected the vote. It’s pointless scaremongering, those outcomes will only happen with no deal/ hard Brexit only. It’s about compromise on all sides

But the EU have already said that there is no further negotiation. It’s all been discussed, dissected, analysed to the nth degree. I don’t see how “the softest Brexit” is possible. Remain for me
