As a former civil servant I'm pretty confident a planned departure from the EU would take something like 10 years. I don't accept there are any senior politicians who don't know this. They're all messing us about.

I think your timescale is fair. Politicians do know it - but it’s difficult for them say I know Cameron said you could decide but now we’ve changed our mind. It’s not simple and hard liners on both sides aren’t helping

Helping with what? The referendum was almost certainly designed to divide. It worked, what more help is needed?

It wasn’t intended to divide the country, just help the Tory party conclude a civil war. Cameron failed miserably on all counts.

You suppose that Farage, UKIP, even Russia, had no interest in the societal outcomes. I'm not so sure.

I’d agree on all those wanting societal polarisation, I’m only saying it was never Cameron’s intention. He was so incompetent - and encouraged to be by the Lib Dem’s - that he could not see this outcome. We are now dealing with this crap because of his stupidity

Agreed, but I don't accept that Cameron really called the referendum, since those forces were there already. He failed to stop it, and perhaps thought his dumb luck with Scottish independence could hold for Brexit too. Corbyn didn't see the need to support, so shit hit the fan.

Not sure what is meant here.
#Corbyn did support#Remain, on his own terms. Mandelson was Cameron lite but in my take did not reach any wider support.#Corbyn case on worker rights, consumer and environment protection. Not well reported.1 antwoord 0 retweets 0 vind-ik-leuks -

@BenPBradshaw remarked on how Labour supporters proudly told him the voted to Leave BECAUSE they were acting against the Tory government. They sure as hell didn't get that message from Ben.3 antwoorden 0 retweets 0 vind-ik-leuks -

However this goes we also need to accept that most Leave voters, Tory or Labour, seem quite adamant that climate change isn't real, that the gender pay gap doesn't exist, and worse. It's hard to build bridges with folks like that.

I can’t argue on you assertions - but that’s not a reason that should stop us trying. Change and reconciliation processes find their own time when breakthroughs occur, but you have to start the process to reach that point
