It is the dilemma facing all inclusive parties - the balance between respecting a democratic decision (however ill informed) and minimising the economic impact

And that’s exactly why Labour are losing voters. Sitting on the fence has meant labour are trusted by neither remain or leave.

Didn’t I say earlier we should have been clearer. Any principled party will struggle with this dilemma. It’s not the Blair or Johnson approach of saying anything that will get you votes - it’s about trying to be inclusive of all in this divided nation

And trying to be inclusive is alienating the very voters you need to win government

It’s time for labour to pick a side. Not offer yet another unicorn that we know will be rejected out of hand by the EU27

Paul I know that’s your personal position but life is rarely that simple for a party wanting to inclusive

Life is that simple. Either you want to protect jobs, public services and the poor or you don’t. The BMA have repeatedly said that any Brexit would cripple the NHS for a generation. The TUC have said that any Brexit would cripple the economy for a generation.

I’m a democrat Paul - who voted Remain - who is uncomfortable with ignoring those who voted leave as you suggest. We need to find a middle way rather than create further division

I’m not saying we should ignore those who voted Leave am i. I’ve never said that,

All I’m saying is that Labour, with 4 months left, need to decide what they want. Promising unicorns whilst ignoring reality is just going to damn the Labour Party to obscurity. Do you really think the next generation of voters will forgive labour?

Neither you or I have a crystal ball, so neither of us can answer that question. On that note I’m off to walk the dog. Take care and nice to chat
