Hence my points earlier on protest votes in relatively low turnout elections Labour has changed its stance as a result on Brexit

Labour’s Brexit policy is deceptive at best isn’t it. They’d only oppose a Tory Brexit but would push for a labour Brexit if In Government.

It is the dilemma facing all inclusive parties - the balance between respecting a democratic decision (however ill informed) and minimising the economic impact

And that’s exactly why Labour are losing voters. Sitting on the fence has meant labour are trusted by neither remain or leave.

Didn’t I say earlier we should have been clearer. Any principled party will struggle with this dilemma. It’s not the Blair or Johnson approach of saying anything that will get you votes - it’s about trying to be inclusive of all in this divided nation

And trying to be inclusive is alienating the very voters you need to win government

It’s time for labour to pick a side. Not offer yet another unicorn that we know will be rejected out of hand by the EU27

I already know the EUs legal position & the EU27 have repeatedly ruled out undermining the SM & CU to accommodate Britain, Reality is riding hard towards Labour’s Lexit strategy

Let’s see. The previous EU leaders took a pragmatic approach to Labour’s attempt to deliver the softest possible Brexit. I’m not saying there won’t be hurdles on the way. But let’s see what the new EU leaders - not the technocrats - say about what’s acceptable to avoid no-deal
