A theory on father/sons. The mediocre drivers seem to have great kids (Rovanperä, Verstappen, Magnussen, borderline: Rosberg) and the great drivers have mediocre kids (Vatanen, Grönholm, Alen, Waldegård, Schumacher, borderline: Sainz and Blomqvist).
Pauli Toivonen was a big star of the 60s - won the 1000 Lakes, Monte, San Remo and Acropolis. Also Jimmy McCrae was no mediocre driver - a tarmac ‘demon’ winning in Ypres, Manx, Circuit of Ireland, Ulster and many more rallies competing against Vatanen, Mikkola and Waldegaard

Yeah, there are examples of both father and son being great, but I think in recent times the discrepancies seem to be larger. Probably just a coincidence, but interesting nevertheless.

It would be nice to see a very fast daughter emerging soon.

I can’t see where the next Michelle Mouton is coming from and the FIA, national associations, WRC Promoters and factory teams should be taking positive action on gender in WRC
