I think we know Formby isn’t right. She’s hiding behind rules to make her own failings

That is an assertion without any substantiation. True, she inherited a mess, but the actions taken since to rectify process failings have been transparent for all to see. Those who oppose Corbyn are just stirring things up for their own ends.

She said she dismissed any complaint before she took over in 2016 because they weren’t handle correctly and now talks of a backlog. And staff are in tears. But I can’t assess that as Formby not doing well. Jog on

If you are saying that all complaints pre her tenure have been dismissed, then you are wrong. That would obviously be unfair to all concerned. But she has introduced a robust system for managing new complaints, which Watson was undermining.

Terry can I say well done on this thread and keeping focused on facts. I’ve seen references in it to a position that could ‘arguably’ be taken. In all my governance roles I would be horrified if officers recommended serious action on the basis of ‘it could be arguably said’

It’s a fact that Corbyn’s aides interfered in the complaints process, despite it being an alleged GDPR breach when Watson even suggested it. DP is rarely about facts; mainly it’s about what’s arguable.

Governance is about managing risk. In the absence of facts, I wouldn’t make a decision based on ‘I think’ or ‘It’s arguable’ from a single source. I would listen to a range of experts or an industry body with a collective view. These give a defence if there are legal consequences

Data Protection is principles-based legislation that requires the creation of a well-argued case. If any of my bosses had demanded facts when I was a DPO, I would have had to quit. As it was, they understood what kind of law we were dealing with.

Can you signpost a sector body or professional body that would validate your opinions on the specifics of this case ie the points you said were ‘arguable’ or ‘I think’. Although I’m a Corbyn supporter I’m genuinely trying to be objective

I think your first comment demonstrated how objective you were willing to be

I looked at discussion between two professionals in different fields and offered a view.
