This isn't even politics trumping justice. Personally I think it _should_: we need a truth and reconciliation commission rather that this series of trials and inquiries. It needs to involve OTRs and early release, and offer pardons for all crimes committed pre GFA.

Any TRC would need to also involve those 'disappeared' by pIRA, crimes committed in GB as well as NI, loyalist crimes and state crimes, on the Goldstone model. It would offer us a chance to draw a kind of line.
