As are you:-) its a great and very human joy to give money and time to those in our community ( and globally) struggling... Do for others as we would like them to do for us. That's not to give the state a cop out but it's a mixed economy

On a personal note I work with "Violent Special Needs" and there is nothing more I dread than when a "volunteer" walks through the door. It's not that they don't mean well but their responsibility appears to be diluted and often leads to difficulties

You might think that's the role of charities but the fact is that they provide essential services that government won't or can't. Expecting one sector to meet the needs of the entire population us naive.
