There isn’t a single supplier rule but I think DMack spent so much money I can’t see them competing with a global corporation.

I think Smack said they might come back one day but said it depended on the other members on the board.

I can’t say that the year they ran with Elfyn upped the profile too much more, GB win aside. Hardly any national crews use the dmack, apparently it’s an expensive tyre, see more Hoosier branded ones than dmack on the stages of I’m honest? They sponsored Higgins in the American RC

Now that the disappointment of the weekend is subsiding a little, thought I would cheer myself up by looking back to happier days. My dear old Dad and me on Dyfnant cheering on Elfyn's father Gwyndaf. Note rally essentials, Welsh flag and Welsh fag. Ha,ha.pic.twitter.com/jQ6uLivTTZ

That’s cheered me up Pete. Your Dad was such a dapper looking man there - not your typical rallying enthusiast. Funny how your fag and the Welsh flag link the two eras together

Bless him. The only Blacksmith I ever knew who went to work every day in a collar and tie. Remember one RAC in the snow, him taking a shovel, so after each car he filled in the tracks, so he could see more action. Naughty boy, but great.

Different times. No marshals in sight, and a hell of a lot of fun.

There were just timekeepers at stage start and finish. The drivers / navigators were so accessible in the service areas, no barriers and would chat. I remember talking to Timo Makinen in the services near the old Severn Bridge in about 1973. Nice video -https://youtu.be/gYI_npsynHM

Not a branded jacket or shirt in sight. Warm coats and head scarfs for the ladies. The big thing was no entry fee to the stages either.

I still remember my shock at being asked to pay to park to go into stage for the first time
