Colin, there are a lot of Remainers on Twitter. That's largely because the two main parties are pro-Brexit. So being almost entirely deprived of party-political representation we've had to represent ourselves, hence the vast #FBPE movement.

I'm not arguing about changing the system. Only noting that on the greatest issue of our times over half the electorate is unrepresented by the two main party leaderships, which when you think of it is bizarre.

I don't think PR is some kind of magical panacea, and I'm not at all persuaded that changing the electoral system in response to a single issue crisis would be wise. I do think that Labour's leaders should think much more carefully about the present

Didn't reject *any* change. Rejected one particular change.

OK then, by 2:1 they rejected the proposed alternative to FPTP, on an awful turnout that was a good illustration of no real desire for change amongst the general population. The FPTP system isn’t great but we live in a democracy and change was rejected by a large margin

Actually, yes. Try telling a child about democracy and then telling them ‘but, despite what I’ve said, the party with the most votes is almost never in power’ and see if they get it. They won’t. And not should you.
